On February 8th, stakeholders gathered at the @Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola for a dynamic workshop focused on the preservation and conservation of coal heritage. This collaborative effort brought together a diverse range of voices to discuss the safety and socio-economic impact of post-mining sites in the region.
The first session provided participants with insights into the project’s concept, specific plans, objectives, partner countries, and ongoing tasks for the RFCS Accompanying Measure European Project. During a working session, attendees actively engaged in discussions about a draft questionnaire. Different groups contributed their opinions, suggestions, and comments, enhancing the questionnaire’s accuracy and ensuring a comprehensive and realistic approach to survey opinions during the application phase.
Representatives from national and local authorities, industry experts, researchers, community members, and students from esteemed institutions like the German Mining Museum Bochum (DBM), German Development Cooperation (GIZ), Ruhr Regional Association (RVR), and Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) actively participated in this enriching dialogue.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce that the finalized questionnaire, shaped by the insights gathered during the workshop, will soon be published. This questionnaire will be accessible to the public in EU participant countries, marking a significant step towards fostering transparency and inclusivity in our project.
Kudos to the organizing team: @Hernan Flores, @Julia Haske, Tansel Dogan, and all the participants!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey towards preserving the rich mining coal heritage of Europe!
