🎉 From the 6th to the 8th of September in Tarnowskie Góry, the traditional holiday ‘Gwarki’ was celebrated! 🎉
Tarnowskie Góry is an ancient city where for centuries silver and lead were mined. One of the key events of the celebration was a popular-scientific conference titled “Industrialists of Tarnowskie Góry in Antiquity and the Middle Ages” held at the Tarnogórskie Centrum Kultury (the city’s cultural center). 🏛️
Among the fascinating topics discussed was the use of LIDAR technology to detect old mining shafts ⛏️, presented by our colleague from KOMAG, who also shared the latest issues of the CoalHeritage newsletter 📄 during the conference.
Another major highlight was the historic parade 🎭, commemorating the town’s history and emphasizing its rich mining roots. Our project colleague was also an active participant in this parade, which, by the decision of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, has now been added to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage! 🇵🇱
